Super Nintendo
Super Nintendo consoles, games, and accessories
Used Super Nintendo
Nintendo released this version in 1992 as a successor to their very successful Nintendo 8 machine, which had triumphed across much of the world. The Super Nintendo was released later compared to other 16-bit machines, but it quickly became clear that Nintendo would once again take the lead with many exclusive titles such as Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Metroid, and Zelda.
One of the reasons for its great success was also that Nintendo managed to secure Capcom's major arcade hit Street Fighter II, which was released first on the Super Nintendo; it took several years before that title reached the competing Sega Mega Drive.
The Super Nintendo was discontinued by Nintendo shortly before the turn of the millennium.
