Golfamania is a golf simulator viewed from an overhead perspective, playable by one to four players taking turns with two controllers. It features a single 18-hole course. Before each round, players select their clubs by removing at least three from the full set, keeping the sand wedge and putter. Each hole displays wind, par, distance, shot number, and remaining distance. Shots are executed in stages: first, the swing direction is set with Left/Right (Up/Down pans the hole), then the club is chosen. Players select the hit point on the ball, affecting height, spin, and curve, before setting power using a meter where optimal timing ensures maximum effect. Golfers have Power, Accuracy, and Luck ratings, affecting drive distance, ease of hitting optimal shots, and reducing hazards.

Modes include Practice (single-hole play with all clubs), Match Play (one-to-two players compete per hole), Stroke Play (one-to-four players complete all 18 holes; ties trigger sudden death), and Pro Tournament (single-player against 30 computer opponents across three tournaments; first place required to advance, ties resolved by sudden death).
