Followers of the Demon Lord Ra Goan kill the king and royal family of Baljinya to resurrect Ra from his thousand-year imprisonment. The Elder Council decides a new king must be crowned, or the kingdom will fall under Ra Goan’s rule. They declare that the rightful ruler must complete three tasks.

Landau, a wannabe hero, accepts the challenge and sets out to save his homeland. Armed with a sword for close combat and a bow for ranged attacks, he travels through towns, villages, and castles, gathering information, restoring health, and uncovering secrets. Different terrains, from plains and forests to mountains and swamps, are filled with monsters unique to each area. Players have up to ten continues, and bosses must be attacked at weak points or moments. Defeating bosses rewards Landau with improved weapons to aid in his quest.
