World Cup Italia ’90 for the Sega Master System, developed and published by Sega in 1990, is a top-down football game. Although often compared to the Mega Drive version, World Cup Soccer, the Master System edition is a completely different game with more teams, different graphics and sound, and a wider view of the pitch. The game follows international football rules from 1989/1990 but has no free kicks and only a loose connection to the actual World Cup.
In Brazil, it was released as Super Futebol II, as a sequel to the earlier World Soccer. The game includes six extra teams compared to the Mega Drive version, allowing players to play with countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Sweden, USA, the Soviet Union, and many more.
