World Soccer is a football game for the Sega Master System, developed and published by Sega. Known as Great Soccer in the USA and Super Futebol in Brazil, the game uses a top-down perspective with a horizontally oriented field. There are eight teams with five players plus a goalkeeper, and matches are played in two halves of five minutes each.
The game can be played by one or two players, with options for a regular match or a penalty shootout. The ball is dribbled automatically, while the player can shoot at goal, pass to teammates, or attempt offside passes. Defense is handled with automatic tackles, and the goalkeeper is controlled separately. The game also includes corner kicks, goal kicks, and throw-ins, while tied matches are decided by penalty shootouts. Teams are selected before the match, with difficulty varying by country, and each team’s national anthem plays at the start.
